Ubuntu Linux - 10 Programs You Need to Download (as .DEB)

Well, I thought I’d create my own list of programs I FEEL I couldn’t live without, and don’t come installed as default. Here goes:

#10 - Hardinfo

I really do miss the Device Management feature from Windows and related information windows telling you what’s in your system. The System tab in System Monitor doesn’t really give you all the information you need (although Hardy will include an updated System Monitor program), and so hardinfo is a brilliant substitute. The .deb version I have crashes on me a bit but it is an older version - and I’m certainly going to try the newest one soon.

Attention all… the link on this page does not work because the original author had taken his blog down.

I had only quoted part of his blog to abide by all the creative commons and publication rules and regulations and this is one time that I think everyone suffers b/c of it.

If I can find a cache of the site I will post the remainder of the article here.
