Sony Vaio Z505
I purchased the Vaio Z505 from eBay on a whim and suggestion from a friend for an “ultra-slim” laptop. The Laptop definitely lives up to that claim. It is TINY… both in size and horsepower.
Status: LINUX COMPATIBLE

- Mandrake Linux 9.2 (Came on it when purchased)
- Debian 3.0R1 “Sarge”

- Intel Pentium II 333Mhz

Special Notes
The modem does not work but everything else does. Installation was complicated as it does not have a CD-ROM built-in. I had to borrow a friend’s but it did allow booting from the CDROM after getting it all set up. The CDROM was a PCMCIA drive made specifically for the Vaio. Once installed I noticed that scrolling was sluggish primarily because of the weak video card.
