Linux and Certifications

In our world today there are several certifications and certification tracks that you can follow to get the coveted “Certified” status.

RHCE - RedHat Certified Engineer

The RHCE is one of several certification statuses that you can earn from the RedHat organization.  The lowest level is RHCT which is a “Technician” status and covers the basics.  You can go advanced, but generally the one you’re gonna want is the RHCE.

LPI - Linux Professional Institute

The LPI certifications have been around almost as long as the RedHat ones, but the RedHat certs are much more widely accepted.  Recently (2006), Canonical added a new certification to the LPI list… an “Ubuntu Certified Professional” certification.  It builds on the LPI basics and deals directly with the most popular distribution, Ubuntu.
